Hugh Barker is a freelance editor and writer. He has 23 years of publishing experience, specifically within commissioning, editing, writing, selling and creating books. He is currently working on a range of freelance writing and editing projects (including titles on humour, popular science, history and business) for publishers including Ebury, Atlantic, Michael O’Mara, Constable & Robinson and Elwin Street. His most recent in-house post was as Publishing Director (Adult) for Michael O'Mara Books, managing a hugely profitable list of commercial titles ranging across practical art, biography, business, popular science, humour, gift and trivia, business, self-help, design, reference. Prior to this, he was commissioning editor for the Constable list (now part of Hachette), as well as acquiring additional fiction and non-fiction titles for special sales channels.
