The Angel, Mary and a Monkey

A fancy dress Christmas dinner

The Christmas dinner. Iconic for happiness and the warmth of family gathering as well as unexpected turns and unusual company. We strolled the streets for the best Christmas dinner anecdotes and found Peter and Bruno with their biblical fancy dress dinner.

‘To me, Christmas is for family,’ Bruno starts. ‘But I’m from Brazil and since I live in the Netherlands, I don’t always get to join them for the holidays. That’s why last year, we decided to have Christmas dinner with friends.’

‘All of our friends are artists,’ adds Peter. ‘We love to dress up, to play a different role for a little while. So it was obvious our Christmas dinner had to be a dress-up one.’

Bruno continues: ‘It was quickly decided the theme had to be the nativity. We hosted the party and we had our house filled with biblical figures. I chose to be Balthazar with an enormous white turban wrapped around my head.’

‘And I was the angel,’ Peter proudly adds.

‘Everyone was there. The wise men from the East, Joseph and a Mary stuffed with a pillow. During dinner all played their part in the whole Nativity scene and Mary gave birth to a toy monkey,’ relates Bruno with a serious face.

‘This year, we don’t have any plans, yet,’ shares Peter. ‘We’ve had a rough last few months, so we’re not organising anything in our house again.’

‘Still,’ says Bruno, ‘we’re hoping for an invitation to a sequel of last year!’
