From the Stage to the Pen
When I was a little girl, my mom enrolled my sister and I in every dance class that was offered at our local dance studio. I grew up dreaming that someday I would be a musical comedy star on Broadway, but later in life I developed bone spurs and had to have several surgeries on my feet to remove them. While the dancing did not cause the spurs, it aggravated the situation. My podiatrist informed me that I would never make a living from dancing and he asked if there was anything else I was passionate about. When I told him I liked to write, he suggested that I switch my major from dance to Journalism. I told my Mom I planned to write a book, and she was the only one I ever told that to, and while I have over 100 articles and restaurant published, my book has yet to happen, although interestingly one of my good friends bought me a gift certificate for my last birthday for a reading from a 5th generation psychic and she asked me if I ever thought of writing a book. She told me I would write a book of fiction and it would be a best seller. Even though I can’t be on stage I am still an avid patron of the arts. I had to give up on my dream of being a dancer, but I enjoy watching others live out theirs.
